Hematology

“I am a fan of just walking down the hall and talking to my colleagues in person. That human connection really makes a difference. My biggest eureka moments have happened during hallway conversations. Bouncing ideas off others helps generate better ideas.”

— Dr. Panch

How would you describe your approach to care?

I’ve really learned to look at the person as a whole. There’s a common saying that goes, “A good physician treats the disease; a great physician treats the patient.” I always request an hour to meet with the patient because it’s important that I get to understand their social situation and support system. Once you’ve created a rapport, you can really understand what this person needs and what kind of follow-up they’ll need going forward. Research shows that the time you spend at this first meeting makes all the difference. The knowledge and care we offer should translate to comfort, hope and healing with the patient.
