I joined Fred Hutch in 2009 and currently see patients at Fred Hutch Cancer Center – South Lake Union.
I discovered on a cross-country road trip that fresh food was not nearly as available in other parts of the country as it is here in the Pacific Northwest. I went to school to learn about nutrition and discovered that I really needed to be a dietitian to do the “cool and interesting” things. I fell in love with clinical nutrition and oncology during my dietetic internship.
I love the continuity and the chance to build relationships with my patients. I also love talking about food. Chocolate is one of the four food groups!
Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, kayaking, traveling/exploring in a camper van and playing with a rambunctious greyhound.
Patient Care Philosophy
I want to help decrease the fear around eating that can sometimes accompany cancer treatment and help patients make choices that support their health while honoring their individual preferences. I practice from a weight neutral framework and am more interested in what I can add to a patient’s diet to support health instead of what to restrict.
Clinical Expertise
I work with autologous stem cell transplant patients (primarily myeloma and lymphoma) and also with the myeloma group (primarily myeloma and AL amyloidosis).
