Dr. Katherine A. Guthrie is a biostatistician who oversees the study design, implementation, analysis and reporting for cancer clinical trials, many of which are conducted through the SWOG Cancer Research Network. She has served a key role in the design, analysis and publication of numerous studies related to hematopoietic cell transplantation, solid tumors and autoimmune diseases. She is also a principal investigator for MsFLASH (Menopausal Strategies: Finding Lasting Answers for Symptoms and Health), a network of scientists who design and conduct multiple concurrent clinical trials to identify treatments for alleviating the most bothersome symptoms of menopause. Additional research interests include epidemiologic studies related to autoimmune diseases, cancer and pregnancy outcomes, and the health effects of microchimerism, the phenomenon by which small numbers of cells travel from a mother into the fetus and from the fetus into the mother during pregnancy then remain for decades.
