The Infectious Disease Sciences Program of Fred Hutch is committed to investing in the future of infectious disease research and patient care. Therefore, we have implemented a program to assist trainees who plan to attend the 5th Symposium on Infectious Diseases in the Immunocompromised Host on May 11 - 14, 2025 in Seattle, WA USA.
- Applicants are invited to submit abstract proposals. Abstracts are an optional item to submit with the application. Accepted abstracts will be awarded poster presentations during the poster sessions. The best abstracts will be awarded a trainee abstract oral presentation.
- Qualified trainees can be at any stage of their training / education, including medical students, graduate students, residents, fellows, or other related research/medical training programs, and must be granted time to attend the symposium.
- Local trainees in the greater Seattle area (who do not require travel support and a hotel room) are welcome to apply to receive a registration fee waiver, invitation to the mentor-mentee dinners and/or to submit an abstract proposal.
- Trainees from racial and ethnic groups traditionally underrepresented in health sciences and persons with disabilities are expecially encouraged to apply.
- Faculty members and established career professionals are not eligible for the travel stipend or registration fee waiver, but may submit an abstract.
The travel stipend covers three nights' lodging at a host hotel, round trip economy airfare, registration for the two-and-a-half day symposium, plus breakfast, lunch and dinner on all days. Additional expenses are the responsibility of the attendee or their institution.
