Fellowship Funding Opportunities and Training Resources

With a commitment to fostering collaboration and advancing scientific discovery Fred Hutch offers a range of funding resources tailored to support graduate student and postdoctoral fellows across various stages of their pursuits and diverse areas of expertise. Those interested in learning more about funding opportunities and available resources for creating successful applications to these opportunities, are encouraged to explore our internal site, CenterNet.

Funding Portal

The Fred Hutch/University of Washington/Seattle Children's Cancer Consortium members have acess to Fred Hutch’s Funding Portal, a centralized database to assist in their search for non-federal funding opportunities. Cancer Consortium members at all career stages are encouraged to utilize this resource which can be accessed using their institutional credentials. When you “Alert Foundation Relations of Intent to Apply,” you will be put in contact with the Foundation Relations team, who can assist in:

  • reviewing and revising your application materials (research proposal, letters, statements, etc.)
  • sharing past successful applications, when available
  • aligning the application to the funder’s priorities
  • ensuring adherence to the formatting guidelines and internal/external procedures and more!

F Award Training Program

The F Award Training Program, established in 2018, aids Fred Hutch graduate students and postdoctoral fellows with their F30, F31, and F32 applications. The program features a panel discussion for insights and Q&A with current awardees and faculty members who have served on study sections, a mock study section where trainees can review peers' applications, and access to a SharePoint database of previously awarded submissions. For database access, trainees should contact Andrea Brocato at ajbrocat@fredhutch.org.

K Award Training Program

Writing a K Award proposal requires significant time and organization. This training program aims to enhance your proposal writing skills with advice from experienced scientists and faculty members. It includes self-directed learning through videos and online reading, a mock study section for critiquing proposals and asking questions, and access to successful proposals for participants in the mock study section. The program emphasizes active, hands-on learning rather than passive classroom sessions. For more details see CenterNet.
