Shared Governance
Shared decision-making between nurse leaders and frontline nursing staff promotes patient safety and quality care. Through multiple Fred Hutch Cancer Center nursing and interdisciplinary councils, nurses at all levels can contribute, collaborate and share their unique, diverse and valued perspectives.
Clinical Practice Council
Local practice councils, made up of staff RNs, LPNs, medical assistants and nursing assistants, report to the Clinical Practice Council (CPC). This council ensures consistency in standards of nursing practice. Some of the areas they address include unit-based quality and safety and updating and maintaining area-specific policies and procedures for nursing care.
Nurse Awards and Recognition
DAISY Award
The DAISY Award is given to extraordinary nurses who embody the nursing values of compassion, courage and integrity. Today, the program is recognized around the world, but it all began right here, at Fred Hutch.
